FADED ICONS OF THE WEST
Limited Edition
Faded Icons of the West is a visual chronicle of the American West by photographer Jules Frazier. It began in 1985 with her portraits of rodeo queens and grew into decades of work through 2019, spanning rodeo, ranch life, cowboys, neon, roadside Americana, and wide-open landscapes. The result is a deeply personal monograph of Western life.
The book is organized into eight chapters: Frontier, Blue Tone, Neon, Rodeo, Rodeo Queens, Ranch, Roadside, and the Making Of. Nearly all of the imagery was shot on film, in 35mm, 2¼, and 4×5 formats, using Nikon, Canon, Hasselblad, and Calumet cameras. An index documents each photograph by title, subject, location, and date.
