The story of The Faded Icons of the West series

Jules Frazier is an award-winning fine art and advertising photographer whose work has been featured in national magazines, ad campaigns, private collections, galleries and exhibitions. Born and raised in Pacific Northwest, Jules studied photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Southern California.  Upon graduation her plan was to move to Manhattan to start a fashion photography career.  She never made it to New York.  “Three weeks after selling my car and putting a deposit down on a NY apartment, a last-minute ski trip to Sun Valley changed everything,” says Frazier.  After the snows receded and, on a dare, Jules entered a Rodeo Queen contest and was ultimately crowned the 1985 Miss Hailey Idaho/Days of the Old West Rodeo Queen.  It was the first Rodeo she had ever attended.  Frazier’s rodeo queen days were filled with amusing and amazing moments and characters that she documented beautifully on film.   It is this body of work that launched Jules’ reputation as a distinguished fine art photographer to collectors.

“What started out as a photographic series in color on The American Rodeo Queen has broadened to several collections, my most collected , Faded Icons of The West. From cowgirls and cowboys to old neon signage and landscapes the sepia-toned photographs are my interpretation of the code of the west and the people who live it. “
